Ann M. Crain


ANN M. CRAIN, 66, of Salem, IL died May 31, 2019 at her home, in the loving care of her husband and family.

Born December 28, 1952 in Collinsville, IL, she was the daughter of Calvin L. and Betty (Jones) Barbee.

Ann graduated Salem Community High School in 1971. She enrolled in the Kaskaskia College Nursing program (1975), then pursed her nursing education at SIU-Edwardsville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1983). Ann was a faithful employee of Salem Township Hospital working 35 years as an RN, and later a Case Manager from 1991 until her retirement. Ann possessed a loving spirit that was appreciated by her patients, clients, and all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family, her friends, and her church family. She also loved cooking, and spending time outdoors.

She married John W. Crain June 27, 1971 and he survives her.

Also surviving is her son, Eric W. Crain and wife Andrea of Salem, along with her grandchildren Seth, Lili, Kara and Kaci.

She is also survived by her father, Calvin L. Barbee of Salem, and siblings Bruce (Amy) Barbee of Forreston, IL, Rex Barbee of Salem; and Janet (Greg) Goldsboro of Patoka, along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jones Barbee.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem, with Pastor Lori Harvey officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family ask that you gather with them for a time of visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.

The family request those wishing to honor Ann's memory make contributions to the Grace United Methodist Church, or, to the Donor's choice and will be received by the Rankin Funeral Home, entrusted with the family's care.
