Kenneth L. Sullens


KENNETH L. SULLENS, 79, of Centralia, IL died September 27, 2019 at SSM Hospital of the Good Samaritan, Mt. Vernon, IL.

Born April 19, 1940 in Salem, IL, he was the son of Harold and Virginia (Bryant) Sullens who preceded him in death.

A former employee of Warren G. Murray Developmental Center in Centralia, he retired with 30 plus years of service. He began as a Mental Health Technician, and at retirement was in the Housekeeping Department. Very private by nature, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and just driving around. He was a U. S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his daughters, Angela Sullens and Samantha Barbee and fiance Scott Alvis all of Dix, IL, and Kristie Sullens and fiance Victor L. Young of Centralia, IL, along with grandchildren April Sullens, Dakota Timmons, Kaytlan Branch, Memphis Grundlach, Lamar Young and Tairinny Barbee. Also great grandchildren, Preston Bradford, Dayanara Allison, Kinnady Scott, Bryer Brown and Holden Timmons.

Also left to mourn his passing is a sister, Diana Sullens Collum of Springfield, IL, sister-in-law Ruth Ann Sullens of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Larry Sullens, and granddaughter, Summer DeAnn Bradford.

Kenneth chose to be an organ donor to help others, followed by cremation.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. The family will plan a Celebration of Life service in the near future. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to his family, and left with the Rankin Funeral Home, entrusted with the family's care.
